ok i moved to colonial heights, va about 6 months ago. I was walking around last friday outside and noticed people out here actually put out recycling, which nobody did where i used to live. I see that we have a green recycling tub next to our house too, so i want in. But i dont know exactly what they accept or how you have to sort any of the stuff. does anybody know how to go about this? any other tips on how my family can go GREEN? i’m trying to get my parents to switch to energy efficient light bulbs too. :-) happy earth day!

I would like to get people to recycle in my community but we don’t have anywhere to bring our trash unless we want to drive for three hours. most people around here burn what trash they can and that just pollutes the air. We can bring our cans to a place that will buy them. Who can I contact to get recycling started here? Fire is a really big problem here and I believe most are started from people burning trash because they think they are helping by keeping trash out of the dump. Please help me!!!

So I’m a student at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and my problem is that the entire city of Champaign does not have a recycling program. We throw away garbage and recyclables into the same bag. I don’t know how local government and municipalities work, but anyone have any idea how I could get some law makers to atleast think about getting a recycling program instituted? I hear they tell bums to look through trash for recyclable stuff and then take it to a recycling center a few miles away in another town.
